We absolutely love St David’s! It is one of our favourite places to go to get away from the hustle and bustle of everyday life. It really does offer everything; from the vibrant main square to the beauty of the old Cathedral and grounds. Plus it’s right on the water so there are plenty of activities for you adventurous folk.
Here’s our top 7 to give you all a bit of inspiration (we tried to make it 5 but there are just too many good things to do!)…
1. Take A Boat Trip With Falcon Boats At St. Justinian’s Harbour
Explore every nook and cranny of the Pembrokeshire coastline with Ffion and her team. During the exhilarating RIB boat ride you will circle the RSPB nature reserve on Ramsey Island and will hopefully see seals, porpoise and maybe even a puffin or two. You will venture in to some of Pembrokeshire’s ancient caves and even learn a bit about the history of the area. Falcon Boats also offer a dolphin and whale watching trip which will take you further out to Grassholm Island. If you’re lucky you may even spot an Orca too.
We had such an amazing time on these boat trips and would highly recommend them both to any wildlife enthusiast.
(While you’re in St Justinian’s Harbour, be sure to pop your head into the RNLI Lifeboat Centre. It’s really impressive to see the enormous new lifeboat and well worth a visit.)
2. Have A Stroll Along The Breathtaking Coastal Path
The Coastal Path spans an incredible 186 miles and offers some of the most impressive landscape in Britain. You will experience a vast array of scenery along the way from beaches and coves to volcanic headlands and rolling hills. There is an abundance of wildlife to be seen and incredible wild flowers dotted all along the path.
Although some parts of the Coastal Path can offer a real workout, there are also stretches that would suit all ages and fitness levels. If you want to dip in and out of the walk to experience different sections you can catch the Coastal Path Bus which covers the entire route from St Dogmaels to Amroth.
3. Climb, Swim And Cliff Jump Into The Ocean With TYF’s Coasteering Experience
TYF are an adventure hub where you can do anything from rent Kayaks, Surf Boards, Paddle Boards, learn to rock climb and even go coasteering. TYF pride themselves in being pioneers of this exhilarating activity, which they describe as “Pure Ocean Play” and they couldn’t be more right! It is just the MOST fun thing!
With a wetsuit, all the safety gear you need and an expert instructor who knows the Pembrokeshire coastline like the back of their hand, you will climb and scramble up rocks and jump straight into the Atlantic Ocean. We can’t shout about TYF loudly enough and we know you are going to love a day with them as much as we do!
4. Visit St David’s Cathedral
Here’s a little fact for you – St David’s is one of the smallest cities in Britain! Thanks to its magnificent Cathedral which was built in the 12th Century, St David’s has a real claim to fame. St David’s Cathedral was a popular pilgrimage destination back in the day and is still just as popular with tourists today. It is incredibly beautiful both inside and out and is the perfect place to go for some peace and quiet after a full day of activities.
5. Leap Into The Beautiful Blue Lagoon
You might recognise this picturesque spot from the Red Bull Cliff Jumping Championships. Set in the heart of an old slate quarry, Abbereiddy’s Blue Lagoon has the clearest deep blue water which is absolutely breath-taking. Come here to jump off the platforms into the water or watch some expert divers impress you with their tumble turns.
Abereiddy is also the perfect place to coasteer and climb, but be careful of the strong currents renowned in this area.
6. Go Surfing At White Sands Beach
The stunning White Sands Beach carries the European Blue Flag award and boats one of the best surfing beaches in the country. The vast expanse of beautiful white sand is perfect for taking in the rays on sunny days, beach games with your friends or even a little family picnic. From the land you can see surfers, body boarders and canoeists along the horizon and if you want to get involved there is a rental company providing everything you need to give it a go. So get that wet suit on and ride those waves!
7. Catch a fish Or Two With Haven Boat Charters

Dave, the skipper, comes highly recommended and will guide you through your fishing experience He can also provide all tackle and equipment if you need it.
